Boosters Club’s Old-Timers Get-Together The Boosters Club’s Old-Timers Get-Together was a goose bump, chicken skin kind of affair. It was wonderful to see the icons and legends of ONE TEAM renew friendships and shared experiences. Some of them had broached the idea of the get-together during videotaping for the proposed ONE TEAM documentary and this encore gathering of a larger group of alumni and friends from the Bray era was thoroughly enjoyed by all. As younger alumni, present and former coaches and teachers, present students, family, and friends arrived to join the festivities, the common bond of ONE TEAM reached across the generations to make for easy conversation and camaraderie. Many alumni from the Hamada era made their way to Coach Hamada to share a remembrance or experience or just to say hello or maybe even a thank you. Other coaches were warmly greeted, as were classmates and teammates. Playful comparisons were made between the players of yesterday and the players of today and new friendships were established as the bonds of ONE TEAM grew and strengthened. Good food was shared by all and the boys from this year’s football team made sure there were no leftovers. When the short DVD developed from tape shot so far for the proposed ONE TEAM documentary was shown, many were touched and comments like “amazing” and “heartwarming” were expressed. Perhaps most telling was the comment by a parent that “Now I understand what this ONE TEAM culture is about.” It is this increased understanding of and appreciation for ONE TEAM that the Boosters Club believes will result should we decide to proceed with the documentary to honor, preserve, and perpetuate ONE TEAM (see DVD). All who wish to help are welcome; we want to do the documentary in true ONE TEAM fashion with input and participation by the entire ONE TEAM community.
